Profit First is a general small business finance book by Mike Michalowicz. It proposes setting aside profit as the first allocation of revenue, in separate accounts, and fitting expenses to what remains.
It is not written for MSPs. An MSP owner with recurring revenue might use the method to review how payroll, tools and owner pay are funded, and to compare it against the firm's current accounting habits. Owners with debt or irregular project income will need to adapt the allocation percentages to their own numbers.
